Intelligence doesn't affect pets at all, but you need it to equip staves. How can i understand what damage type each pet dealing?

And I'm not even doing anything, really (just stand there and watch the fight. Even if my pets dies sometimes, I quickly resummon it and keep going. Most people say "it's hard" "even first Telkin kills me/my pets". Then i began to lvl up nature but somehow i just rushed Nymph tree and now I have lvl 16 nymph, lvl 16 nightmare and some passives (+hp from nature and some defensive stance from dream). What is strange in my build: i started with dream>maxed nightmare. Not sure if it's good in comparison to smth like spirit + nature or spirit+dream, but i have fun with it (now on 3rd act or how it's called.
